Nine to six is the common office day across much of East and Southeast Asia: nine clock hours from start to finish, five days a week, forty-five in total.
The extra hour compared with nine to five is usually the unpaid lunch break, which is why the two patterns often amount to the same quantity of paid work despite the different-looking numbers.
